They engage in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative job duties that include preparing the operating room, securing supplies, setting up equipment and instruments, anticipating the surgeon’s needs during the surgical procedure, passing instruments, fluids and supplies, and monitoring and assessing room conditions. Surgical Technicians are responsible for maintaining the sterile field and being constantly vigilant that all operating room team members adhere to the proper sterile technique.
Our Biomedical Engineering Department offers a 12-month certificate program in Surgical/Theater Technology. This will enable you to work in hospital theatres. Your education will involve a blend of online, classroom, and clinical/hands-on training, all of which will make you very competent and confident to deliver safe care.

Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings.
National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) is accepted and stands on its own with credits in at five (5) subjects i.e Physics,Chemistry, Biology, English Language, and Mathematics in not more than two (2) sittings.
The College shall conduct written examinations and oral interviews for applicants as the basis for admission.
