Antimicrobial Stewardship Course 2020
Overview
This blended-learning course offers any healthcare provider an opportunity to learn the basics of antimicrobial stewardship, infection control and COVID-19.
The course starts with a 4-week online component, followed by one-day interactive workshop in Aba. It was developed by multidisciplinary experts, and it is presented in a dynamic and interactive learning environment intended to highlight the role of the healthcare provider.
Topics covered include
Basics of antibiotics therapy and susceptibility testing
Implementing antimicrobial stewardship programs
The use of Spectrum App for antimicrobial stewardship
2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and clinical/laboratory practice
Target Audience
This course was developed for doctors; nurses/midwives; pharmacists and pharmacy technicians; medical laboratory scientists and medical laboratory technicians; community health officers/extension workers; as well as students, who may be interested in enhancing their understanding of infection control and antimicrobial stewardship.
Learning Objectives
This course was developed for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical laboratory scientists, who may be interested in enhancing their understanding of infection control and antimicrobial stewardship. At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
Discuss how to implement principles of antimicrobial stewardship
Understand how to respond to the on-going COVID-19 outbreak as well as improve infection control.
Use a smartphone application (SpectrumApp) to improve their prescribing pattern
Join a network of healthcare providers under the Abia Antimicrobial Stewardship Project
Accreditation
Everyone will receive a Certificate of Participation from Marjorie Bash College of Health Sciences and Technology, upon completion of this course. Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Abia State Branch has approved this course for 10 CPD points. Doctors who need the credit are required to pay N3,000 NMA. CPD for other professionals are being processed. Participants must successfully complete all the post-tests with a passing score of 70% or higher, complete the workshop component and the online evaluation.
